Pigments consist of small particles used for their coloring properties. Unlike dyes they have a very low solubility in water and organic solvents.
Titanium dioxide, a white pigment is the most important pigment in terms of produced quantities. Because of its high chemical resistance and lack of toxicity it is used as a colorant and filler material in numerous products such as:
