Closures or mechanical seams are important devices for belt filters in order to make these filters endless after the installation on the machine.
The following systems are available:
Metal pin seam
Stainless steel or Hasteloy hooks are adjusted to the belting material according to customer requirements with PEEK or special pintle wire.
Overlap
Standard features to prevent fine particles passing through the mechanical seam.
A) Overlap for the metal pin seam closure
B) Metal pin seam closure
Underlap
Alternative to the overlap when the scraper almost makes contact with the filter belt.
A) Overlap for the metal pin seam closure
B) Metal pin seam closure
Filled metal seam
Applications that do not have such demanding sealing requirements might permit the use of a filled seam that restricts the passage of almost all fine particles, but does not block them totally.
Welding
On-site hot-wedge welding provides superior sealing and mechanical properties on e.g. DLW belts. Sefar provides welding guidelines and on-site welding in certain market areas where this service is available.
