Edges on belt filters are a subjected to heavy wear and tear and need to keep their shape during the entire life of the vacuum belt filter.
The following edge treatments are available:
Heat-cut
The melting causes the edge to be closed. This is the standard treatment for e.g. DLW fabrics used on vacuum belt filters. This treatment is possible for all fabrics except floropolymer materials.
Taped edges
Various widths are available. This is the standard treatment for e.g. open-mesh dryer belts.
Coated edges
For applications when especially heavy abrasion is expected and/or edges are required having no air permeability. Polyurethane coated edges 10 to 120 mm are available.
These give optimal mechanical protection: they are the standard solution for e.g. coolant belts and vacuum belt filters in the mining industry.
Hot-wedge pressed
These give good protection against mechanical wear. They are the standard e.g. for belts in the pasta industry.
Hot-wedge welded
These provide heat-resistant protection against fraying and mechanical wear. They are the standard for belts in the food industry.
